Where is Lake Almanor?
Lake Almanor is located where the Sierra Nevada mountain range meets the Shasta Cascade region of Northern California and forms a four season paradise as well as the northern gateway to Lassen National Park and Scenic Forests. Lake Almanor is one of the largest lakes in California at 4,500 foot elevation, with 52 miles of shoreline. Lake Almanor is located in Plumas County and is one of the most unspoiled areas of California. Plumas County is comprised of 1.6 million acres, most of which is National Forest land. 1,000 miles of streams and rivers which provide countless recreational experiences and life time investments.
Lake Almanor's lovely snow covered mountains surrounds this pristine wonder which keeps you coming back because of winter activities such as, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, downhill skiing, snowboarding, dog sled races, hunting and of course fishing. Winter activities will be further enhanced by the proposed Dyer Mountain Ski Resort.
Lake Almanor provides numerous summer activities such as boating, water-skiing, swimming, jet-skiing, canoeing, wind-surfing, camping and fishing. Next to fishing and boating golf is one of the favorite recreational pastimes. Lake Almanor provides access to a number of marinas around the lake.
Bailey Creek has one of the finest USGA public golf courses designed with an 18 hole, 7,040 yard, par 72 course. You will be amazed at the lush greens, the mountain views, the beautiful pines and breathtaking lake vistas that greet you.
Lake Almanor Country Club located on the peninsula has a 9 hole semi private golf course which is surrounded by forest and homes. Lake Almanor West, located on the west side of Lake Almanor also has a 9 hole semi private golf course surrounded by forest and homes.
How To Get To Lake Almanor
Lake Almanor is serviced by several modes of transportation including: regional airlines, Amtrak rail and Greyhound bus lines into Redding and Chico. Reno, Sacramento and San Francisco airports offer numerous airline choices from around the United States. These airports are within a few hours drive and offer a complete complement of rental car agencies.
With Interstate 5 bisecting Northern California, access is easy from just about anywhere! Private auto routes into the region include Interstate 5, and Highways 395, 299, 97, 3, 36, 32, 20, 70, 44, and 89.
